COMPARISON OF GENEXPERT® PROBE MISSING IN HOTSPOT RRDR OF RPOB GENE AMONG PRIMARY AND ACQUIRED DRUG RESISTANT CASES OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS

There are differences in probe pattern missing rifampicin resistance determining region of rpoB gene among primary and acquired resistant TB cases. This study aimed to observe the Xpert® MTB RIF Assay presenting Hotspot RRDR Gene drug-resistant cases pulmonary tuberculosis a tertiary care setting Lahore. comparative cross-sectional work was undertaken at The University Lahore cooperation with Department Pulmonology HRI-NIH Research Centre KEMULahore. Confirmed patients being sent for were target population this study. Based on previous treatment history, divided into Samples subjected Assay, any probes missing, i.e., A, B, C, D or E, observed. Data from total 170 finalized analysis consisting 84(49.4%) 86(50.6%)primary A 90(52.9%) male 80(47.1%) females enrolled. mean age 35.45±16.11 years. proportion E (78.2%) remained topmost, followed by none 8.3%, 5.3%, C 3.5%, B 2.9% 1.8%. variations frequencies RDRR regions genes rifampicin-resistant andacquired TB. high frequency no found.
